Diane Krenz for Hennepin County Attorney
For more than 40 years, I proudly served in the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office—working every day to keep our community safe and ensure justice for victims. Over those four decades, I’ve prosecuted nearly every type of case imaginable: juvenile delinquency, sexual assault, murder, and complex white-collar crimes. I’ve stood beside victims and their families, making sure their voices were heard and their rights upheld.
I’ve worked closely with judges, probation officers, law enforcement, and community members across Hennepin County. I even represented the elected County Attorney’s Office itself, gaining the experience needed to lead and manage this critical institution effectively.
My entire career has been about protecting the public, supporting victims, and holding offenders accountable—and I’m ready to continue that work as your County Attorney.
Why I'm Running
I loved my job as a prosecutor, but earlier this year, I made the difficult decision to step away from the work I care so deeply about. I could no longer ignore the changes that have weakened accountability, strained public trust, and put safety at risk.
I believe it’s time to restore confidence in the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office—with steady, experienced leadership that puts people and safety first.
The County Attorney’s Office must get back to the basics of justice while embracing the innovation and collaboration our communities deserve.
My Priorities
Real Accountability
Those who break the law must face real, consistent consequences—especially in cases involving violence. Accountability is essential for justice, prevention, and community trust.
Standing with Victims
Victims of crime deserve compassion, respect, and a strong voice in the justice process. I’ll ensure that the Victims’ Rights Law is upheld in every case and that victims receive meaningful support from start to finish.
Working Together for Safety
Public safety requires partnership. I’ll rebuild collaborative relationships with law enforcement, ensuring we share information, address concerns, and build strong cases that keep offenders off the streets.
Engaging the Community
Safety starts at the community level. I’ll work with schools, neighborhood groups, and local leaders to prevent crime, expand awareness, and make sure every resident feels part of the solution.
Common-Sense Leadership for a Safer Future
The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office needs common-sense leadership that’s both experienced and forward-thinking. I know what has worked in our system—and I have the vision to improve it for the future.
As your County Attorney, I will:
-
Restore confidence in the justice system
-
Uphold the law with fairness and integrity
-
Protect victims and families with compassion
-
Partner with our communities to keep every neighborhood safe
I’ll lead with both toughness and fairness, making sure the law is enforced without fear or favor.
Together, we can rebuild trust, uphold justice, and make Hennepin County safer for everyone.
